I’ve used this chocolate cake recipe as the base for many cakes and desserts throughout my career. This is the most classic version, perfect for a birthday cake- three layers of super moist chocolate cake with a fluffy chocolate buttercream, decorated in a simple old fashioned design. This was one of the most popular cakes we made in the bakery, loved by kids and adults.
This cake works really well converted to gluten free- all of the chocolate makes the difference almost unnoticeable.
